SUMMARY
A Diesel Service Manager oversees the daily operations, staff, and financial performance of a diesel repair shop or service department, ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality repairs on trucks and heavy equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES and DUTIES
-Team Leadership: Hiring, training, mentoring, and scheduling diesel technicians, as well as conducting performance reviews.
-Operations Management: Scheduling repairs, managing workflow, ensuring quality control, and maximizing shop productivity.
-Customer Service: Acting as the main point of contact for clients, resolving complaints, and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
-Financial & Administrative: Monitoring budgets, controlling costs, managing parts inventory, and
meeting profit and loss objectives.
-Safety & Compliance: Enforcing OSHA, EPA, and manufacturer safety standards to ensure a secure, compliant work environment.
-Technical Support: Assisting technicians with advanced diagnostics and complex repairs.
REQUIRED SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience: Generally 5+ years of experience in heavy-duty diesel repair, with previous leadership
or supervisory experience preferred.
-Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of heavy-duty diesel engines, hydraulics, and
diagnostic tools.
-Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team to meet performance goals.
-Communication & Organization: Strong customer service, interpersonal, and scheduling skills.
-Education: Vocational training or a degree in diesel technology preferred.
